The Devastation

The worst enemy of man is man.

It is not the rooster that comes into your home and pecks your baby’s eyes out
It is not the wildcat that steals into your barn and eats your sheep
It is not the hurricane that comes unannounced and takes out your roof
It is not the tsunami that drenches your heart and hands in its cold, murky wake
It is not the earthquake that breaks your hardwork into uneven pieces of land
It is not the endless games and technologies that push your family apart

It is you,
your friends,
the ones you love,
the ones that love you

It is the people that think they know what you need but don’t think of you
It is the people that promise to love you and then steal your joy
It is the people who separate families, who make children suffer
It is the stranger who kills your family because they were in the way
It is the men and women to whom your life is but a flickering flame
It is the people who start a war just because they are offended

It is your family,
your neighbors,
your preachers,
your leaders

The worst enemy of man is man.
